Capillaria species

Capillaria species

Capillaria philippinensis causes intestinal capillariasis, while Capillaria hepatica causes hepatic capillariasis. The eggs of both species have prominent bipolar plugs and thus resemble those of Trichuris trichiura, the human whipworm. However, they have a striated rather than smooth wall, which allows for their differentiation.
